It's All About Me

My photo
Old enough to know better, but at age 50 I started a second career as a Mixed Media Artist. Inspired by a friend who suggested I research Altered Art I found what I do, and what I need to feed my muse. I have been published* I have been purchased* I have been SOLD! at an exhibit* I have been invited to share and teach* I have been blessed that I have friends who "get it";

The Tie Collector

Grandma, this kid doesn't collect cars, he collects TIES.
Score!
He LOVES this Christmas tie covered with Sequins
and wore it outside his coat. Goes nice with the camo
hat ...

He spied it on my side table, and NOW IT IS HIS!

Work and Play Aprons

Since my Grandson "hot rod" likes to cook and also likes to work outside in the garage and in the yard

He is getting a few "tools" from his crafty Grandma.

After deconstruction of a denim shirt for another project I saw the potential as a pocket and neck strap

And the remains of the trench coat worked well on the other apron. along the same lines.

And a good excuse to clean off my work table and set it up for a cutting table... worked great!

The pattern was posted on  sew much ado blog, and I will have to find the link

Saved

I have never mentioned it, but I have been hit in the head by Jesus.
Not that gentle anointing

Not the pouring of holy water over the brow

Not the dip in the river...

Hit in the head by Jesus...

Just wanted to witness a moment...

Give A Way

Cool give a way from Tess at NOVA, her art is wonderful.

She has created a pendant with a gorgeous!!! colored stone, and stirling silver" waterfall "

Go check it out!

bubbles clock

An old fan found on the side of the road, rescued and dismantled sprayed with a nice fresh chrome finish..

Pearls and beads are running down the front and filling up the glass bubbles & when they miss, they bounce around like crazy...

Clock face is printed from a deco style foto that was sent from Roger Wood creative clock maker who is so kind to share the files of clock faces he has collected over the years ... www.klockwerks.com

Bubbles

Been having circles on my stuff a lot... big circles that I trace using plastic lids from jars as a template

Little tiny circles that are like grains of sand...

This clock backround is foamboard, very strait lines of a glitter glue that is "festive" and really looks good on black... mirrors, buttons, bottle caps painted with glitter glue and glow in the dark dimentional paints.

Book Page Clock

I saw a book page wreath on a craft blog, very nice!

So I pulled out a clock that I had altered before, and used a DECO style clock face that was given to me by Roger Wood  of  klockwerks.com

The book pages are AGED already, naturally, and I blinged it up nicely.

Unfortunate for me that between LAYERS I did not remember HOW to roll the book pages into cones..

hahahahahahahaaaaaa

I am giving this to a benefit auction this week...

oy veh

I am such a sissie

I really let pain and depression cycle into a very bad place

I went to my therapist Marie

I went to the pain management doctor

I took the shots in my poor thumb and changed meds again

I am getting "under control"

But the stuff piles up so bad that I feel less than adequate handling it..

I had my 57th birthday

I am having issues with the spouse that I can not handle at ALL...

Since the depression is lifting and such, I got some cool ideas for artsy stuff

And since I didn't get into the Warrenton Artisan Guild Country Christmas this year I wasnt under that pressure...

I am trying trying trying to get rid of negative thoughts and keeping myself in a good mood by drawing, because I don't have much luck with the left hand

It is very difficult to sew, and I did find lots of cool things to do with my big fiber art scarf stuff, but I just have no interest putting the stress on that hand!

I drop stuff

AND the change to cooler weather! OY VEH! My hand and arm BURNS like I started a fire on the skin that sinks into the muscle

So, we will see how the heck I recover from THIS and THAT, and get thru November...

Can't Do It

I have some issues that are preventing my participation in the FAMILY DAY at the Village Book Store this weekend.

I wish I could just drop everything and rest my hand, because the pain is really bad now, and I had been "prepping" some envelopes last night, and it is a direct result of that PREP work.

Today I can barely type, and that thumb is not even in USE when I type.

stoopid thumb

Busy Weekend?

I will be checking out the art exhibit at the Meadows Shopping Plaza this weekend, and showing the fliers I am making for the Village Book Store Family Day.

The family day has a book signing, and we talked about something for the KIDS to do, and I got some good projects going... reuse and recreate.. eazy peazy simple things that can be made up for gifts.. etc.

I need to see what my fotos look like! I forgot I took them.

I will be forgetting my head next...

Bubba Helps

Bubba is keeping a close watch on my basket of scraps

And I discovered my MOUSE needed cleaning, she was full of dust from the demo, and I had to put her back on her clock..

I do not understand why we didn't cover the clock before we started working, as it is right next to the room.. don't know...

Called It's A Mystery to Me

aka

Art in the Blood (a quote from a book)

3' x 4' wall mounted mixed media

still needs her hair fixed and the ghost heads... lol

I moved her into the studio, and printed off the ghost heads... lol I am SO happy to have my new printer/scanner..

This will be something to work on when I am "resting" from my surgery on Friday... if I am not passed out from the Darvocet...

Its a mystery to me

The name of my art thingy

The Sherlock thingy

DH said he wanted to keep it in the Master

Now he has second thoughts, the bastid

I moved it this morning and it spoke to me

I put it in the livingroom, and then it started telling me

Do something woman!!

So I am making a ghost head .. you will see

I envisioned something and can work on it quite well in my current space!

I am going to start taking before fotos

I moved it to the STUDIO and set it up on one of my foot stools

The damm cats better leave it alone...

Don't Rush ME

I think that is a song...

Oh Yeah, it is

Anyway, this is about not having the JOY of organizing and setting up my new space, because I am having pressure from my partner to get the stuff out of the LIVING ROOM

And since the weather is a nice cool 70 F with ragweed and mold in high levels, we need to open up the house and then get back to work moving stuff around... wow...

NOT a good IDEA

So I am not getting the rush of adrenalin to get organized, cause I can't get behind it... moving stuff but not organized

sigh...

That blank wall was calling me, and I am still hoping to work on a clock key on that wall.. Maybe I will just MAKE one... and then I will be able to work on it at will, not on a ladder.

That should give me the incentive to get my work table cleared off and find my supplies.. lol...

un countable

OY

I tossed down the carpet squares like I was dealing a hot hand of poker

YES! plenty of extra for the little experiment I wanted to do at the "entry" area.

OMGOSH - I was at least 12 short.

I counted, I measured, I counted before I laid down the last box of tiles, and dammit if I was WRONG... I was really WRONG..

AND

I worked my tushie off FRIDAY - SATURDAY AND Sunday moving stuff in..

AND I am still working my tushie off...

Can NOT WAIT to start painting that entry wall tomorrow... and bringing in MORE STUFF!

close only counts ...

with hand granades and horse shoes

My touch up painting was not as complete as I thought.

The light is very poor at 5 am, and I didn't see some stuff that was very visable at 5:30 pm

DH told me I also missed a spot that requires standing on top of my desk, and I did that space this morning.

The transition between the flesh color of the hall paint,[real name is buttered toast] which is still in excellent condition, and the creamy tan is a strange situation...

If I paint down the entire wall, will I like it? Well, sure.

Do I want to paint down the entire wall? Well, no.

So to say I am DONE, I may opt to put in some art in the guise of a distraction... to take the transition away from the spot light.

I did think about using the transition as a real jumping off to another wall treatment... which may still happen... [a giant clock key comes to mind]

5 bins down and counting

Last night I emptied some of my bins of books and loaded the bookcases back up

The idea was to start placing the dis-placed supplies into the now re-useful bins

Unfortunate for me that I am a possesser of many books of different genre.. and they were put helter skelter into boxes and bins so that I could tear out carpeting

The once organized is not

And considering the number of books sent to the Village Book Store I assumed I would have a lot of shelf space for my clocks... not

Well, this early a.m. I did the final touch up painting so I will actually start the clean up of the other half of the room to lay carpet squares.

My Wednesday day off is not

So I will see how far along I will get tonight

Unfornate for me, I have an idea for the entry wall... dammit

Artsy Wall - Clock works

Adding the Minute Hand for the GIANT CLOCK
Photobucket
Yes, I really do this at 5 AM
what I do at 5 am
From the counter
The view from my seat at the counter
a closer look from the counter
Will be adding the Metalic effects over the weekend I am sure
GLAD that I still have the staircase in my space! It makes it easier!
And I did the "self portrait" in ONE SHOT... now I wish I had my good clothes on instead of my baggy work clothes!
Heck, I can do it again tomorrow morning before work... lol...

Getting there...

Added some fabric to my wall by the bookcase, I thought blue was a good contrast to the screaming yellow and MANGO MADNESS...

I am going to add similar fabric to the shade I found last year at AGAPE and hang that in the window.

this is a fun blog!

Junk Mail Collage and Recyle Your Life Trash

You know, I am a good junk mail shredder, and have saved some really cool pieces for examples of "stuff" that can be used in a "different" way.

I am collecting several sample of re-usable mail for a project I will propose to Val over at the Village Bookstore, some Saturday Make and Take things. For folks to do AFTER they have bought some books from the shop.. lol

Besides other useful ways to use your junk mail, instead of tossing it or shredding it, I will propose the way to re-use cardboard cereal boxes.

We have not changed over to a plastic bag type of cereal, because my hubby eats a name brand for the 100% of his daily vitamins and minerals.. kwim?

I took the box, which is a larger one, and made it into a holder for my clip board that I "art" on, and would like to keep it clean as possible. I do doodle art on it and the board itself is decorated..

Folders, etc can be made easily, and decorated to hold recipes, patterns, notebooks.

The sky is the limit.. it should be fun to plan and execute

Slap ME! I am working my arse off!

The remodel project is going and going and going

Most folk could not even imagine getting up early in the morning and kissing the spouse bye-bye and painting a wall before jumping in the shower and leaving for the office...

Most folk call me crazy anyway...

I Quit

I managed to give in to my muse, and I quit the Artist Guild.

It was not a hard decision, just a worrisome one.

The energy spent was not given back, by that I mean what I gave was not returned, or I didn't feel I gave anything of any meaning or contributed in any way.

New blood is always needed in groups to shake up the membership, open eyes and share ideas and such.

For some reason I could not get behind anything that was going on, and I guess the sense of no organization, not that the Christmas Sale wasn't organized, because it has been going on for 30 years, and needed some new ideas, but just not what I was looking for.

I know this is disjointed but it is how I am right now... disjointed..

Renovation is eye opening

Do I know how much stuff I really have?

Not until it is packed into my living room and dining room.

I will be sorting for months, but I am going to load the van up every time I hesitate over something, and give it to AGAPE or start putting things in the consignment shop.
